Things to consider for first home purchase

I have a friend who came to me for advice because he is buying his first time home. He was not quiet sure where to start or how to go about it. I have mapped out a process for him to go through. He has quite a bit of research he needs to do including talking to finance companies. This will be a good thing for him to do over the Christmas break. When work resumes I will catch back up with him and map out a purchase plan or attack. That way he can get a good bargain for his efforts.
