I didn’t want to watch the basics of roofing.

My husband is constantly watching home improvement shows on television. When we have to complete a project around the home, I am greatful for the fact that he knows how to do so, but he watches these programs whether we have an upcoming project or not. The other day, he was watching an episode on the basics of roofing. It was a repeat, one he had seen several times before. I didn’t want to watch the program, so I went into the family room and read a book. As I was reading, I felt a droplet of water fall on my arm, then another, then another. I glanced up to find that the roof was leaking. I moved the chair, and placed a bucket on the floor to catch the water. The next day, my husband purchased the materials and began replacing our roof. I learned a valuable lesson… never complain about the programming he chooses to watch, because you never know when the knowledge that he gains will come in handy.
