Why do I pay a penalty to refinance?

When you go in for the refinance option, there is always a doubt as to why a penalty is involved. To understand this, it is necessary to understand how a bank actually works. When a loan is given to you, the bank gets back the amount along with the interests within a fixed period of time. This is the income of the bank. When you refinance the loan you are repaying the amount quickly, thereby reducing the amount of interest that you were supposed to pay. This lowering of the income is offset by penalty when refinance is opted for.
