What Are Compassionate Allowances?
January 20th, 2009 by admin
If you have a life-threatening illness - for example, terminal cancer – you qualify for something unique, known as compassionate allowances. This is a way of rapid identification of diseases or other medical conditions that are based on quite minimal objective medical information. There is a list of approximately 50 conditions that qualify for fast track benefits. Such serious conditions as acute leukemia, ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease), astrocytoma, bladder cancer or pancreatic cancer are among those on the list. The idea is that if you have one of these 50 conditions, you will be eligible for benefits to provide for your living expenses and care.
