I cannot format or delete the files

My USB is infected and I cannot format or delete the files. It is saying that the disk is write protected. Even the latest updates from anti virus programs cannot delete the virus. They detect it, but cannot delete it. I know for sure that the USB is not write protected as I have checked it. Please help me.
