Value Stream Mapping

The value in creating a Value Stream Map is so that everyone involved can see the process as a whole, not just their part of the process. People often think as long as their work is done, the process is complete, but by building a Value Stream Map each person can see how each process is affected as a whole. From there you can begin to work on disposing of waste and will help you prioritize what parts of the process should be dealt with first. Value Stream maps also will help you agree on what your current state looks like and what your future state should look like. If everyone is looking at the same map, then there should be no confusion about the work to be done.
