Sherlock Holmes, one of the most popular fictional characters in the world was a private investigator. As a PI, he conducts investigations about the problems that are consulted to him by his clients. In reality, there are many who perform the same tasks that Sherlock Holmes does. A private investigator need to be licensed in order for him to start an investigative practice. Almost all states in the United States have set licensing requirements for private investigators who intend to practice within the state. These requirements include attendance to training programs on investigative practices. Applicants should also have no criminal record so that they will be granted a license.
