What Ten Years Can Do

When I turned eighteen, I moved out of my parent’s house, and into an apartment with my boyfriend. If you are a parent, you can imagine how worried and unhappy my parents were with the situation. I remember how much my dad disliked my boyfriend! He would list all of the things about Josh he didn’t like, from the time he got a quick cash advance to take me to dinner, to how much he drank, to the fact that he was “just a carpenter”. It’s funny what ten years can do. Josh is now my husband, and is no longer “just a carpenter”, but a contractor with his own business. Of course, now Josh and my dad are great buddies, and dad denies every having disliked Josh!
